Mini Knubbelchen

I made this Mini Knubbelchen (German Doll) a few weeks ago. It is so small that it works as a key chain. I knit it with fingering weight yarn and size 0 (2.00 mm) needles. I thought that this would be a great item to decorate my craft room with especially since it is knit with the very first yarn that I dyed.

Mini Knubbelchen

I knit another Knubbelchen a few years ago for a baby gift. I’m not sure how big the first one turned out. I’m guessing that it was somewhere in between 12 -18 inches long.

On The Beach Sweater

I am finally done with my On The Beach Sweater and it only took me 18 days to knit it. It is super soft and cozy. Its a little bit too big but all in all I am very happy with the way that it turned out. I need to get some better pictures but I couldn’t really get to a flat and dry surface with natural light so the snow will have to do for now. 😉

Modifications: I added 8 rows of k2p2 ribbing to the bottom of the sweater and 6 rows to the neckline and sleeves.

Handmade Gifts, Hat

Achromatize Hat

I found the cutest Achromatize Hat pattern on Instagram the other day and just had to whip one up for another “extra” Christmas gift. I knit this with US size 6 knitting needles and some of my Bare Knit Picks Yarn. The red was dyed with 3 packages of black cherry Kool Aid. The pattern is by NotPlainJanye/Jayne Winn. She also has a free cowl pattern that matches this hat. So I just might be making myself a matching hat & cowl set after the new year.

Achromatize Hat

I love how this hat sort of matches the last hat that I knit.

Ombre Hat

This was completely unplanned but I love how it worked out. Both of my kids have hats that slowly lost color as the hat grew. I didn’t even know that there was a word for this technique.

Verb (used with object), achromatized, achromatizing.
1. To make achromatic; deprive or free of colour.

Cross Stitch

Cross Stitch Pillowcase

I finished off another one of my Sister’s works in progress for my Momma. I haven’t ironed it because I am afraid of scorching it. I’m thinking that I might try putting a bunch of heavy books on it instead. I’m a little bummed out that it is a little off centered but you probably wont notice it when its on a pillow.

Here’s a picture of the last one I finished that my Sister had started.

Handmade Gifts, Hat

I lied…. I guess

So it wasn’t that long ago that I posted that I was completely done with my Christmas gifts. I swear I really meant to be done but then I saw the pattern for this little cutie. I needed a quick break from sweater knitting and this hat was the perfect distraction. I believe that it is supposed to be an adult sized hat but its a little short on me but then I live in the frozen Tundra and prefer hats that keep me warm over hats that accessorize. I also want to add that starting and finishing a stranded knitting project was one of my goals for the year so it wasn’t a total waste of time. I hope that my daughter likes it. I managed to knit the entire thing while she was at school so this gift will be a complete surprise.

Ombre Hat

The Quick Ombre Hat was a really quick knit. Like I said it runs a little small but I think that it would fit and adult if you knit an extra few rows in the hat cuff and knit 2 rows in between decrease rows.
