Bright & Cheery For My Dark Soul

Hello All! Wow! Summer has arrived! It has been so hot and dry these last few weeks. My yard and landscaping are dead but the stinky tree is still alive and well.

The other day my daughter over heard me saying that my newest socks will be bright and cheery in the dead of our Midwestern winters. She replied that they are perfect for my dark soul. I’m pretty sure that was not a compliment but it sure was funny. 😂

Melted Crayon Socks

Wow! I love how these socks turned out. This is the last skein of my anniversary yarn. It took me a while to figure out what I wanted to knit with it. I think that they make great cheery socks. The ribbing that I added makes them extra soft and squishy.

* School is out for the summer so I have extra helpers in the house. This year I ordered workbooks from Amazon and I plan to bribe encourage my kids to do a page each week day. They also have; reading goals, creative goals, cooking lessons, chores, and outdoor activities to complete before they are allowed to play with their electronic toys. Their response was that I’m the worst Mom ever. 🤣

I managed to get food poisoning at the end of last week. I’m pretty sure that I made a smoothie with spoiled Greek yogurt. I figured out that the yogurt was bad when I went to make another smoothie a couple of day later. I don’t think I’ll eating yogurt anytime soon.

If that wasn’t bad enough my sinuses are so swollen and irritated that I’ve had a headache that has settled right behind my eyes for the last five days. All I’ve wanted to do is sleep.

I hope you are all having a happy and creative week! 💞 Missy

Grand Central Socks

Hey All! I’ve had another productive crafting week. I’ve finished this pair of socks and I’ve knit four dishcloths. The weather hasn’t been the greatest but hey that’s spring in the Midwest.

I received some good news and not so great news since my last post about our refrigerator that decided to die on April 12th. Last weekend we were able to purchase a new kitchen appliance set (refrigerator, stove, and microwave) on sale at Lowes. The bad news is that the refrigerators that were on sale were on back order and won’t be delivered until May 17th!!! Part of that delay is because we live in a small populated area and they only deliver here one day a week. Over all we were really happy with the service that we got from Lowes! Yay for businesses that sponsor NASCAR drivers. 🚗

Anyways, back to these super cute socks that I knit. The designer is Mina Phillips of the Knitting Expat fame. She designed a series of sock patterns based on her experiences of moving to New York City. I just had to buy the New York Sock Pattern Club. The club includes 7 patterned socks that are released monthly starting on March first 2017. Plus a bonus pattern plain vanilla sock pattern. I paid $17.00 for 8 well written sock patterns which is a great deal when the patterns that I generally buy are priced in between $3.00 – $6.00. I plan to knit all of the socks to add to my #boxosoxkal2017. I have already started the second pair of socks in the series called The Avenues Socks

March Socks

These are from some yarn that I dyed last year some time. It was one of my first experiments with using multiple colors and I wasn’t too sure how I was going to like it knit up. However, am really pleased with the results but I didn’t think there was enough purple in the yarn so I added some left over yarn from my Ridge and Eyelet socks.

I am enjoying the productivity that comes with feeling healthy. My house is cleaner and my WIP (works in progress) pile dwindled to just 3 projects towards the end of last week.

  1. Granny Stripe Afghan
  2. The Coziest Memory Afghan
  3. Granny Rectangle Afghan

I decided to reward my good progress by starting some new projects for myself.

  1. April Socks/Grand Central Station Socks
  2. Flax Sweater
  3. Spring into Summer Shawl

I hope that you are all having a happy, safe, and creative Spring!!! ❤ Missy

February Socks

I’m so happy to have my February socks finished for the #boxosox KAL. I’m still feeling unproductive and unfortunately this cruddy cold is still making its rounds through our house. Hopefully soon I will start sleeping better so that my productivity can increase.

Ugly Ankle Socks

I managed to knit a pair of socks with some yarn that didn’t quite turn out the way I had wanted it too. I figure that ankle socks to wear a round the house will be a perfect use for yarns that I am not totally satisfied with. I also knit a little mini sock to hang up in my craft room
