Allergies, LETTERS HOME

The moment when I realized that my allergies have taken over my life – PART I

I’ve written several times about the severe sinus allergies, sinus pain, dry nose, and breathing problems that I frequently suffer from. The symptoms are exhausting and the side effects of the medications with decongestants are painful. I frequently have painful dry, itchy and bloody noses.

I’m not living my life anymore I’m coping with allergies. I’m exhausted! I’m cranky! I’m unproductive! I am not the best version of myself more often than not. I drink way too much caffeine to try to stay awake and function throughout the day and then I can sleep at night because of allergies and the fact that I have ingested too much caffeine. It’s a bad cycle that never seems to end.

So I decided to give essential oils a try. I’ve got nothing to loose at this point and I’m desperate to try anything before seeking out more medical attention. I’ve heard that the sinus procedures can be painful and sometimes unsuccessful so I’m dragging my feet on that option.

I’d like to eliminate the entire first row of products that I’ve been using and try to concentrate on more natural allergy relief. I’m hoping that essential oils do the trick. I know that’s asking a lot but I’m desperate.

Helix Hat

Hey All!

Three whole days until school starts!!! I’m excited but my children are not.

My Grandma left a funny comment on my last post and I thought that I’d address it here! Grandma thought that I was up posting blog posts before 5 AM. I’m pretty sure that she was trying to figure out how I became such a morning person when I was such a pain in the rear as a child.

I’m still not a morning person. I never will be. I tolerate mornings with more dignity and grace than I did with a child. I would say that with age and maturity I’ve learned to shut my mouth and to keep my gripes to myself. I still dislike mornings but I think a lot of it now days is due to allergy, sinus, breathing, and sleeping problems. I wake up with headaches and jaw pain and I just want to be left alone with my coffee for a good hour. NO TALKING PLEASE!!! In the summers this means waking before my kids do and during the school year it means rushing everyone out the door. Hence the excitement for school days and routines.

The funniest part about this whole thing is that my Son acts the same way I did as a child. What is that saying about your children paying you back ten fold? I’m pretty sure that has nothing to do with yarn money.

So, no Grandma I’m not up posting on my blog before 5:00 AM! I’m currently sitting and typing this post at 9:05 Wednesday morning while I’m cooking breakfast. I will schedule it to automatically post at 4:44 AM on Friday morning. Isn’t technology grand!!! It’s rare that I post in real time.

I really like how this hat turned out. I foresee making a bunch with yarn from my scrap bin. I think that the concept will apply to socks as well. This cheerfully colored hat was a great palette clenzer after knitting the black sweater. The other night I started knitting an Advent calendar and I plan to make at least one more. One to use and one for decoration! The one for decoration is made up of traditional Nordic mitten patterns.

*** My allergies and sinuses are currently bothering me so bad that I have trouble sleeping at night. I end up grinding my teeth and waking up with headaches and jaw pain. Tuesday I noticed that both sides of my lower jaw are bruised on the inside of my mouth from all of the teeth grinding. I’m really not exaggerating when I say my allergies are trying to kill me from the inside out. I’m tired of feeling sick and tired.

Melted Crayon Socks

Wow! I love how these socks turned out. This is the last skein of my anniversary yarn. It took me a while to figure out what I wanted to knit with it. I think that they make great cheery socks. The ribbing that I added makes them extra soft and squishy.

* School is out for the summer so I have extra helpers in the house. This year I ordered workbooks from Amazon and I plan to bribe encourage my kids to do a page each week day. They also have; reading goals, creative goals, cooking lessons, chores, and outdoor activities to complete before they are allowed to play with their electronic toys. Their response was that I’m the worst Mom ever. 🤣

I managed to get food poisoning at the end of last week. I’m pretty sure that I made a smoothie with spoiled Greek yogurt. I figured out that the yogurt was bad when I went to make another smoothie a couple of day later. I don’t think I’ll eating yogurt anytime soon.

If that wasn’t bad enough my sinuses are so swollen and irritated that I’ve had a headache that has settled right behind my eyes for the last five days. All I’ve wanted to do is sleep.

I hope you are all having a happy and creative week! 💞 Missy

Allergies

The tree that conspires to kill me

The crabapple tree that bothers my allergies so much is in full bloom! Within a week these blossoms should fall off and blow away! Until then I’m just going to live in my climate controlled imaginary bubble. Where I can knit and drink coffee to my hearts content while imaginary fairies clean my house.

Have a happy, safe, and creative weekend! 💞 Missy
