Hello, everyone! I hope that you are enjoying the heat of summer. I’m already dreaming of snowy days and cozy knits. Last night I finished another project! I’m really on a finishing roll! I have five more works in progress not counting my blankets that will take me years to finish. This shawl was really fun to knit! I want one in every color.
PATTERN: Dotted Rays by Stephen West
NEEDLES: 4.5 mm/US 7
YARN: Knit Picks Palette
While I am extremely happy with the knit I have never been more frustrated with the quality of the yarn that I have purchased.
Immediately after placing the shawl in cold water with wool wash (bothpurchased from Knit Picks) the water turned a sickly shade of green.
So I heat set the shawl like I do when I dye bare yarn and it still turned the water green.
After that I gave up and threw the shawl on my deck to dry. It’s really frustrating to spend that many hours knitting a shawl to use in the cold MidWestern winters only to end up with a shawl that will damage your clothing if it gets wet. That really defeats the purpose of a warm winter item. So I will be knitting the shawl again with another yarn. As for the two totes of Knit Picks Palette Yarn I own… I wonder if I can return it?
I really expected better quality yarn! Especially when I spend the majority of my limited craft budget at Knit Picks. I will never purchase the Palette line of yarn again.
